anyway, i found this story in this book..
kinda reminds me of someone i know very very well......
it's titled: Hideaway Friend
here it goes....
She liked him,
And he liked her.
But because of their friends,
They lived in two separate worlds.
He would talk to her when no one was around,
She would allow her walls to com tumbling down,
He hated to hurt her, but he wouldn't lose PRIDE.
He'd pretend not to see the tears in her eyes.
For he was an Athlete-- a Star of the school,
And for this one girl he wouldn't forfeit his rule.
She wasn't popular--no one knew her name,
She tried to blend in; she felt so ashamed.
Why didn't he like her? Why didn't he care?
How come he only came to her when no one else was there?
It didn't matter that he'd never felt this way before,
Or that her face lit up whenever he walked through the door.
He only thought of himself and how it should be,
Patiendtly she waited for him, dreaming of how it could be.
Finally, one day, she decided to chance fate,
She worked up the nerve to ask for a date.
She went shopping to find something new.
Ignoring the fear in her heart that continuously grew.
What if he doesn't show? What would that mean?
The "what ifs" were tearing her apart at the seams.
Sure enough, when eight o'clock rolled around,
That boy was missing, nowhere to be found.
She decided on Monday she would avoid him at all costs,
Another relationship failed, another friendship lost.
Later when he found her and started to apologize,
She listened to his excuses; her heart knowing they were all lies.
But it was easier to believe him and to just give in,
That's what she did, when they agreed to try it again.
She began to feel worthless and totally lame,
Once again he had done exactly the same.
So as she sat home alone, again that night,
She decided to give up the fight.
Knowing it's a battle she could never win,
Her heart just couldn't go throught that pain agin.
The next time he walks up, she'll hold her head high,
She'll quickly turn away, and try not to cry.
That's just what she did, but he called after her,
As he started to speak, silent teardrops fell down her cheeks.
She didn't look back, but continued on her way,
She didn't stop when he said he way sorry for his mistakes.
It took all her strength to keep walking away.
She knew what would happen, if she chose to stay.
The pain and the hurt would start over agin,
And she would continue to be his hideaway friend.
